Prayer
When jailed for 30 days in the summer of 1957 for refusing to participate in compulsory civil defense drills, Dorothy Day's thoughts turned to prayer.

Dorothy was able to borrow clothes to attend Mass, which was for her "a necessity." She asked the chaplain to help her obtain her Bible, missal, and breviary. (A link to the Liturgy of the Hours--daily prayer--is provided in the column to the right.)

The St. Benedict Catholic Worker carries on the work of resisting war. Prayer continues to be "a necessity."

Join the St. Benedict Catholic Worker for Friday Vespers, Roundtable, and pot luck dinner  at 7:00 p.m. (See the About Us page for address. Call Liza to confirm, 977-3648.)
